The Plunge!

Just a few quick pictures from the Polar Bear Plunge. I really enjoyed it!!! I was a little nervous when I saw life-flight flying over head, but it wasn't too bad. Once I got my feet warm (check out the pic. of my "transition area" I felt fine!)
Hope all is well for everyone else!! Bye for now!!

Slacker......tri mama!

Yes, I've been a blog slacker lately. All the same old excuses apply so I will not bore you with them.

So, since the goals post. I've been doing a lot of planning. I'm signed up for the Deer Creek Tri. Just a sprint to get the summer started. I'm looking forward to it tremendously. For starters, it's an easy excuse to visit with my parents. Going to their house is relaxing for me. They have a new home, that has lots more space than their previous home and albeit different from where I grew up, it's comfortable and relaxing. I think that has a lot to do with mom and dad being there too of course..........no matter how old you get, mom and dad are comforting (at least mine are!!)

I'm also looking forward to Deer Creek because I haven't been back to that race since '05. '06 was Wildflower year, and I just simply was not ready to get back at it 3 weeks after Wildflower last year. To be quite honest I was pretty burnt out after that trip last year!!

Which brings me to...........I've nixed the 1/2 iron goal this summer. I really need a close to home, low key, nothing too fancy, small races, kinda summer. I'm not planning any huge races through this year. My focus right now is to re-gain my body strength, lose about 15 more pounds of body fat, train for a few low-key Buckeye-state tri's (sprints, and olys), shooting for one per month from June-September, and tackle a century bike ride. The furthest I've ever biked is 55 miles. It was great. Didn't hurt, didn't leave me hating it, I actually liked it. So, in August my mom, Ceito, and I will be doing the MS150 Pedal to The Point. A 2 day ride (75 miles each day) from Cleveland to Cedar Point and then back the next day. I'm looking forward to it. While training for this I hope to hit the centruy mark at least once.

So, that's the low down on that!

Wish me luck today, as I take the plunge into Lake Erie for the Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics...........pictures to follow. Kids...........this is just plain crazy...............don't try it at home!!!

For some reason I didn't get the link right, I'll try again

It's been 10 minutes and I still can't get this to link automatically. So, I guess I'm still blogger dumb!!! Oh well, the link in the previous message is right, you just have to cut/paste into your browser.........it's worth it!

Potsy, Potsy Webber

I am teaching my students about medical emergencies and the cardiovascular system. Every year I teach this class I think about the Happy Days episode when Posty Webber taught a class about the flow of blood through the body with a great song. It's now used on the St. Joseph aspirin commercials as well. I've always wanted to find it and use it, and now I have it!!!
